Luis is a first-year graduate student in the I/O Psychology program at SFSU. He obtained his bachelors in psychology and a minor in business at San Jose State University. While undergoing his undergraduate studies, Luis primarily worked at Tesla’s Fremont Factory as a test-driver and an assembly line production associate. His I/O research interests include AI, training and development, person analytics, and employee motivation. In his free time, Luis enjoys playing video games, watching movies, and going out for a run.

Shilpa Prabhakar (Mind, Brain, & Behavior) Fall 2022 - Current Shilpa is an international student from India and is in her second year, pursuing her master's degree at SFSU. Before joining the program, she worked in the banking sector where she provided awareness and guidance for small business owners about financial services. Her research interests are job burnout and creating stress-free workplaces through integration of mindfulness, spirituality. She is a teaching assistant for a GWAR class; and Math & Statistics tutor at the Tutoring and Academic Services Center. She is passionate about statistics and survey designs and hopes to work in the field of analytics and research after graduation. During her free time, she enjoys meditation, yoga, cooking, walking on the beach, and exploring new places. |
Karen Tarango (Mind, Brain, & Behavior) Fall 2022 - Current Karen Tarango is a first year master's student in the Psychological Science program with a concentration in Mind, Brain, and Behavior. She received her undergraduate degree in Psychology with a minor in Biology at the University of Texas at El Paso. At SFSU, she will be working under Dr. Geisler with EEG procedures at the CP Lab. In her free time, she likes to crochet, cook, and be active. |
Noa Eliana Albaum (Clinical Psychology) Fall 2022 - Current Noa is a first-year master’s student in the Clinical Psychology Program at SFSU. She has spent the past decade working in the field of Jewish education and Jewish experiences. She was the Program Coordinator for the Jewish Community Library in San Francisco and as director of volunteer engagement for RUACH: Emotional and Spiritual Support. Noa holds a B.A. in English literature and Near Eastern and Judaic Studies from Brandeis University and is an alumna of the year fellowship at Yeshivat Hadar. In her spare time, Noa enjoys hiking, making use of libraries, and playing the cello. |
Jenn Yow (Developmental Psychology) Spring 2023 Jenn is a first-year Master's student in the Developmental Psychology concentration who participated in the SF Scholars blended Bachelor's/Master's program. Her research interests include socio-emotional development and relationships, psychophysiology (the mind-body connection), and the utilization of mindfulness practices to foster physical and mental health and well-being over the lifespan. |
Brianna Hernandez (Developmental Psychology) Fall 2021 - Current Brianna is currently a second-year Master's student in the Developmental Psychology program at SFSU, which she began in the Fall of 2021. She graduated from San Diego State University in 2020, where she was an undergraduate academic peer advisor in the the Psychology department, a research assistant, and project coordinator in the Translational Emotional Neuroscience and Development (TEND) Lab. She is interested in researching stress, trauma, and resilience in youth and plans to pursue a PhD in clinical psychology. She plans to graduate in the Spring of 2023. |
Olivia Weinstein (Developmental Psychology) Fall 2021 - Current Olivia is a first-year Developmental Psychology Master's student at SFSU. She recently graduated from San Diego State University where she worked as a lab assistant in a neuroscience lab. She focuses on different types of neuro-imaging and exploring the effects of mindfulness and relaxation. She also interned for a research project focusing on collecting data from underprivileged communities around San Diego, specifically adolescent Latina girls who reported engaging in sexual activity. She is interested in studying developmental psychopathology and effective treatments. |
Brian Trinh (I/O Psychology) Fall 2022 - Spring 2023 Brian is a first-generation Master's student in the I/O Psychology program at SFSU. He achieved his bachelors in English at UCLA and acquired a teaching credential/MA from UC Davis. He has taught eight years in public and private elementary education, prior to shifting careers. His I/O research interests are, but not limited to, organizational change, training and development, DEI&B, and person analytics. Outside of school, Brian enjoys time with his cats and stays physically active in a Masters swim team. He plans to graduate Spring of 2024. |
MK Newsome-Rouse (I/O Psychology) Spring 2023 MK is a first year I/O Psychology master's student at SFSU. She graduated from Chico State in the Spring of 2022 with her Bachelor's degree in Psychology. Her areas of interest include Selection, Retention, Training & Development, and DE&I. She is currently looking for an internship and is hoping to work in Human Resources or as a Learning & Development Consultant. She plant to graduates in the Spring of 2024. |
Krista Fisher (I/O Psychology) Spring 2023 Krista started her masters in I/O psychology in Fall of 2022 after receiving her BA in psychology from UC Berkeley. She has a background in clinical psychology and became interested in I/O psychology through the lab she works in at UC Berkeley. The project she works on aims to implement a sleep intervention into community mental health clinics throughout California. Through this work, Krista learned how she can impact mental health through I/O by means of training, development and organizational change. As a first generation college student, Krista deeply values mentorship. |
Chia "Candy" Wang (I/O Psychology) Fall 2022 - Current Candy is a first year international MA student in the IO Psychology Program. She graduated from Chapman University with B.A. in Communication Studies and B.A. in Psychology and is currently pursuing her master's in Industrial Organizational Psychology. She is interested in employees’ well-being and workplace inclusion. Before coming to SFSU, she worked as a family success associate and crisis text line counselor. She is currently in Dr. Eschleman’s lab and will graduate in 2024. |
Kentaro Kawasaki (I/O Psychology) Spring 2023 Kentaro is an international student from Vietnam and is pursuing his master's degree in Industrial / Organizational Psychology at San Francisco State University. He is in the first year of his program working with Dr. Diana R. Sanchez in the Workplace Technology Research Lab. His research interests include time management, cross-cultural research, and task switching. He is currently working on preparing his thesis which he will propose in the fall 2023 semester. He plans to graduate in the Spring of 2024. |
Amanda Rueda (I/O Psychology) Fall 2021 - Spring 2022 & Spring 2023 Amanda received her B.S. in Business Marketing at California State Long Beach in 2012. She later worked for Coca-Cola before transitioning into Sales Enablement in start-up environments where she shepherded teams through business acquisitions, large-scale system integrations, and changing work environments. She is a second year in the Industrial-Organizational Psychology program at SFSU and works in the Workplace Technology Lab. She is currently a Sr. Talent Management Consultant at Whole Foods Market and is finishing her thesis on the relationship between manager self-compassion and responses to employee feedback. |
